IT Department summons Vijayabhaskar, Sarathkumar & Geethalakshmi.

The Income-Tax Department has summoned State Health Minister C. Vijayabhaskar, actor-politician Sarathkumar and MGR University’s vice-chancellor Geethalakshmi to appear before them this morning (10th April) to explain their stance in respect of the raids conducted at their premises over the weekend.

IT sleuths conducted State-wide raids in Chennai and at 35 places in premises owned by Vijayabhaskar, Sarathkumar and Geethalakshmi and unearthed unaccounted cash and other documents. The Department later filed its report with the Election Commission which has since taken a decision to cancel the R.K. Nagar by-poll.

In the meantime, the income-tax department has issued summons to Vijayabhaskar, Sarathkumar and Geethalakshmi to appear before it and explain their stance with reference to the documents/money recovered from their premises during last weekend’s raids.

Summons have been issued under the Sections of tax evasion and violation of poll norms, it is reported.
