More Ministers, MLAs to come under IT Department’s scanner.

Following the income-tax Department’s raids at State Health Minister Vijayabhaskar’s premises in Chennai (which led to the recovery of some incriminating documents and ultimately resulted in the cancellation of the R.K. Nagar by-poll), more Ministers and MLAs belonging to the ruling faction of the jailbird Sasikala-led AIADMK are likely to be covered under the Department’s list of persons who would face raids in future.

The seizure of documents from Vijayabhaskar’s premises, including a detailed list of money allocated to top Ministers (including chief-minister Edapadi Palanichamy) to be distributed to voters in R.K. Nagar to get votes, has shocked the top-rung leadership pf the ruling faction of the AIADMK which appears to be a rudderless ship at the moment as Dinakaran is after poll victory and Sasikala is cooling her heels in a Bangalore jail.

Based on the evidence collected during the above-said raids, EC’s special officer Vikram Batra filed a report with the Chief Election Commissioner last evening after which the Commission decided to cancel the R.K. Nagar by-polls.

In the meantime, it is said that 12 more Ministers and a few MLAs are also under the income-tax Department’s scanner which plans to conduct raids at their premises in Chennai and elsewhere. Tension and panic has thus gripped the party leaders
