DMK’s working president Stalin has said that former chief-minister O. Panneerselvam is not ‘beyond the radar of suspicion’ in the mysterious circumstances which led to the demise of former Tamil Nadu chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa.
“OPS tried his best to save his brief tenure as chief-minister after Jayalalithaa’s demise and wasn’t sincere in ordering a probe into her demise,” Stalin said after meeting fishermen in R.K. Nagar. “Fishermen’s issues have been taken up seriously neither by the BJP nor the Congress whereas we have taken it up many times,” he said. He also appealed to the electorate not to be fooled by AIADMK’s factions.
“When OPS was the chief-minister, he didn’t sincerely attempt to resolve any issue. Jallikkattu issued found a solution only because of the students and youths’ protest. OPS washed his hands about the lathi-charge on the striking youths on the last day of the protest. When youths took refuge in fishermen’s homes, police entered their home and attacked them as well as family members of these fishermen,” Stalin observed.
“AIADMK is confused and even before that, it didn’t do anything fruitful for the past five years,” Stalin said and added that even OPS wasn’t beyond the radar of suspicion when it comes to inquiring into the demise of Jayalalithaa. “If the DMK is voted to power, we would be setting up a Commission of Inquiry and both jailbird Sasikala and OPS would be inquired about their roles in the episode,” Stalin thundered.
