Jailbird Sasikala, who has completed more than a month out of her 4-year long prison term at Parappana Agrahara Prison in Bangalore where she has been lodged after she was pronounced as guilty by the Supreme Court in the misappropriation of assets case, is said to be using sister-in-law Ilavarasi’s service in reading her letters.
With the demise of former Tamil Nadu chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa last December under mysterious circumstances, the apex Court confirmed the prison term in respect of Sasikala, Ilavarasi and Sudhakaran in February. The trio has been lodged in the Bangalore prison. While Sasikala and Ilavarasi are sharing the same cell, Sudhakaran has been lodged in the men’s section in the same campus.
It turns out that Sasikala has been getting plenty of mail from Tamil Nadu; however, invariably, all the letters take her to task, abusing and condemning her for (plotting) the demise of former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa during the latter’s stay at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai from 22nd September to 05th December last year. Almost 90% of letters received by Sasikala are of this kind, it is reported.
Sasikala has conveniently passed on the task of opening and reading her mail to Ilavarasi who ‘edits’ the letters and reads out only those letters (which are very few) which support Sasikala, who is said to be lamenting that she took good care of the former chief-minister for more than 30 years but was still facing flak as people accuse her of being the ‘mastermind’ behind Jayalalithaa’s untimely demise.
